Alaska fishing lodgesIt may not seem like it at the moment, but we’re fast approaching yet another record-breaking Alaska fishing season here on Kupreanof Island. In fact, this summer will be Island Point Lodge’s 30th anniversary! We continually strive to remain one of the premier Alaska fishing lodges. There are hundreds of Alaska fishing charters, but Island Point Lodge is one of a few to provide self-guided fishing trips, which are perfect for couples. Celebrate an anniversary, marriage, or engagement this year with a once-in-a-lifetime fishing adventure here in breathtaking Petersburg, Alaska. Here are some of the ways we try to create a uniquely romantic atmosphere for loving couples of all ages.

Self-Guided Fishing Alaska Fishing Trips

For those who are unfamiliar with our serene, beautiful neck of the Tongass National Forest, we’re located on Kupreanof Island in a section known as “Green Rocks.” Our clientele is mostly made up of experienced anglers. We give anglers from across the globe a chance to explore the natural beauty of Southeastern Alaska and catch a boatload of salmon, halibut, and trout along the way. You’ll need general knowledge on operating outboard motors and reading nautical maps.

Alone at Sea

What’s great about self-guided fishing trips is the calming, peaceful alone time spent in Alaska’s wondrous natural beauty. The fishing hours are unlimited, unlike all other Southeastern Alaska fishing lodges. Depending on the season, the surrounding Alaskan Inland Seaway provides ample king, coho, pink, sockeye, and chum salmon to go along with spectacular halibut wrangling (our area’s specialty). Three Meals Daily

Alaska fishing lodges

One of the many perks here at Island Point Lodge is that all meals are provided. Start your morning with a steaming cup of Joe, a romantic sunrise, and a hot breakfast before heading back into the Alaskan Inland Seaway. Breakfast typically includes eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits, muffins, and toast. Lunch includes make-your-own sandwiches unless you’d prefer a small luncheon buffet at the lodge. Meal times are a perfect opportunity to converse with other angling couples, a commonplace here at one of the coziest Alaska fishing lodges. Dinner is served early in the evening. The always evolving dinner menu may include crab, halibut, salmon fillets, clams, salmon skewers, or even a pig roast!

Couples-Only Cabins

We have two couples-only cabins that were meticulously designed to accommodate visiting sweethearts. You’ll have a cozy bed in a warm cabin equipped with a bathroom and shower. Watch an Alaskan sunset from your front porch with a hot coffee or tea, observe the misty mountains in the comfort of your home-away-from-home, and completely unplug from the stresses of your modern life.
